Aaron Rodgers stated Thursday that surgery to repair his left Achilles tendon "went great."
The 39-year-old Rodgers suffered the season-ending injury on the fourth snap of his Jets debut in Week 1's 22-16 overtime triumph over Buffalo.
The four-time NFL MVP posted a photo and statement in an Instagram story the day after his surgery, which was conducted by Dr.
Neal ElAttrache, a Los Angeles orthopedic specialist who has treated many elite players.
Surgery went great yesterday," the Jets quarterback posted. "Thanks for the love, prayers, and support.
Thanks to Dr. ElAttrache and his colleagues for starting my recuperation."
Rodgers, who faces months of grueling therapy, made his first public comments about the injury on Instagram Wednesday.
"I'm completely heartbroken and moving through all the emotions, but deeply touched and humbled by the support and love," Rodgers wrote. "Please pray for me as I begin healing today."
