Bears release backup QB amid Justin Fields' controversial comments

On Wednesday, Chicago Bears head coach Matt Nagy cut ties with quarterback Justin Fields after Fields criticized Nagy and his staff.

Fields has blamed the Bears' coaching staff for his offensive troubles this year.

According to ESPN's Courtney Cronin, Fields addressed the media following practice and emphasized that he was not criticizing the coaching staff.

No matter what happens, I will never put the blame on my coaches or teammates. Whatever occurs during a game, I will take full responsibility for it.

The Bears released their backup quarterback shortly after Fields' comments and rumors surfaced.

Tyson Bagent made it through the Bears' 53-man cuts in August, the team has decided to designate him inactive so that he may serve as their backup quarterback.

If the Bears' season keeps going downhill, many fans and analysts are wondering if Bagent may get any playing time.
