GMs Dispute Dianna Russini's Trey Lance Report on Methstreams NFL
After the deal that sent the disappointing quarterback Trey Lance from the San Francisco 49ers to the Dallas Cowboys, there were rumors that other teams were interested in the talks.
Dianna Russini of The Athletic says that both the Buffalo Bills and the Baltimore Ravens talked to the San Francisco 49ers about trading for Trey Lance.
On Friday, Eric DeCosta, the general manager of the Ravens, said that it didn't happen and made fun of Russini's story.
I'd say that's just bad reporting," DeCosta said Friday, as reported by Baltimore Beatdown's Kyle Phoenix Barber.
It's just one of those things, you know? "Cui bono?" is a Latin phrase that means "Who benefits?" … We have leaders who are good.
Our leaders are the best. This training camp, we had no plans to add any passers. So, that's what I'd say about it.
The story is wrong, and DeCosta isn't the only GM to say so. Lions general manager Brad Holmes also denied in public that his team had "shown interest" as Russini said.
I didn't do anything about Trey Lance, in particular. Holmes told USA Today's Lions Wire, "I never asked about the player or anything else.
