NFL world reacts to Derek Carr announcement

The penultimate game of the NFL preseason is a team's last opportunity to compete in what might be thought of as a "dress rehearsal" before the beginning of the regular season.

As a consequence of this, it is not unheard of for clubs to test the readiness of their starters by playing them in a few snaps before the start of the season.

However, it does not appear like the New Orleans Saints will be utilizing their new quarterback, Derek Carr, in such a manner.

Dennis Allen, the head coach of the New Orleans Saints, recently gave a news conference in which he revealed that quarterback Derek Carr would not participate in the Saints' last preseason game.

Nick Underhill, a beat reporter for the New Orleans Saints, reported on Twitter that Dennis Allen has confirmed that Derek Carr will not be playing this week.

Given that Carr is relatively new to the organization and is most likely still working on establishing some type of chemistry with the offense, this move by the Saints comes as somewhat of a mild surprise.

Carr only participated in the Saints' one preseason game this year. In that game, the Saints faced the Kansas City Chiefs, and Carr completed six of eight passes for seventy yards and a score.
