Oddsmakers highlight NFL QBs most likely to be benched first in 2023

NFL players don't want to lose their starting job before the season begins.

Playing in a big league means being scrutinized, especially if you might go from starting to bench.

Experts and oddsmakers predict which quarterbacks will lose their QB1 status due to high pressure. BetOnline.ag predicts first benched quarterbacks this season.

Baker Mayfield is the favorite to be benched first at 2-1 odds.

The 2017 Heisman Trophy winner joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and won the starting QB position in a tough training camp competition against Kyle Trask.

Mayfield wants to move on from his bad 2022 season, but coach Bowles will closely monitor him.

In Washington, D.C., Sam Howell is also believed to have limited freedom.

The second-year gunslinger had limited playing time in his rookie season and the Commanders' offensive line is expected to have little room for mistakes in 2023.

Washington's schedule starts with easy games against Arizona and Denver, but if Howell struggles against Buffalo and Philadelphia in Weeks 3 and 4, he may lose his starting job.

Kyler Murray, the Cardinals' quarterback, will miss the first four games of the 2023 season due to injury.
