Raiders, Chandler Jones saga takes interesting turn

Chandler Jones' Instagram caused controversy recently. Former All-Pro expresses frustration with McDaniels and Ziegler after being locked out of Raiders facility.

The pass rusher tried to call McDaniels and Ziegler on Tuesday but couldn't reach them.

Jones no longer wants to be a Raider while McDaniels and Ziegler are in charge. The All-Decade-teamer wants Patrick Graham as head coach.

Jones will not practice with the team on Wednesday, according to McDaniels. Raiders signed Jones for $51M over 3 years in 2022.

McDaniels declined to comment on whether the veteran defender would play in the team's opener, calling it a private matter. Jones, 33, missed Raiders team meetings on Tuesday.

Jones joined the Raiders last year but has played for multiple teams with McDaniels. Jones and McDaniels were both with the Patriots from 2012-15.

Ziegler was with the Patriots during Jones' time in Foxborough. McDaniels upset Broncos players, resulting in the Jay Cutler trade in 2009.

Brandon Marshall's issue resulted in a trade in 2010. McDaniels had a long break between HC opportunities, but his sudden change with the Colts in 2018 made his reputation more divisive.

Tyree Wilson is expected to replace Jones as a starter in 2024, while also supporting Jones and Maxx Crosby this season.

Raiders gave Jones $32M upfront. He received a $8.5M roster bonus and has $9.67M in guaranteed salary. Jones' deal is not guaranteed beyond 2024.
