Seahawks sign first-round bust to active roster

Artie Burns joins Seattle's roster. ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that the Seahawks have signed the practice squad cornerback.

Burns started only 32 of 58 games in four seasons with the Steelers, despite his first-round credentials.

After declining his fifth-year option, the cornerback joined the Bears before 2020.

After a ruptured ACL sidelined him for the season, he started six of his 11 games for Chicago in 2021.

This summer, he re-signed with the team and was released on roster deadline day, although he made the practice squad.

He played 33 defensive plays in Seattle's two games this season after being promoted.

Riq Woolen's chest injury in Sunday's win against the Lions might diminish the CB corps.

Fortunately, Pete Carroll said Burns' full-time promotion wasn't due to Woolen's injury.

He’s still sore; he’s sore today,” Carroll said Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times. “One day at a time.
